Polish Concertos – review in Jazz Forum Magazine

The orchestra powered by a locomotive rhythm blooms with every colour one can imagine and the soloist, boasting all the means the violin technique has developed from the beginning of time all the way to the 21st century, reaches the summit of virtuosity. So far I have thought Mateusz Smoczyński was mainly an outstanding jazz musician, but now, after seeing Adam’s Apple, I also find him a composer who is able to create contemporary, sophisticated music, very attractive to the audience.

Metamorphoses – review in All About Jazz

Strong compositions and excellent playing ensure that Smoczyński’s Metamorphoses is an engaging listening experience from start to finish. Hot on the heels of his quintet’s outing Berek (Universal Music Polska, 2017), Metamorphoses adds credence to the notion that Smoczyński is a force to be reckoned with in his own right.

Five stars Seifert review at All About Jazz!

Appropriately, Atom String Quartet’s vital and adventurous arrangements bear the stamp of Seifert’s musical personality while saying something new. The inspired and inspiring Seifert will hopefully attract greater attention to Zbigniew Seifert’s compositions whilst simultaneously underlining Atom String Quartet’s credentials as one of contemporary music’s most essential string quartets, regardless of genre.
